Day to Day: Canberra Part 5

I know what you’re thinking: when will this road trip end?!
Don’t worry, I was thinking the same thing by the end of it.
But this is my last post, I promise.
After the zoo, I conned Steve into driving us out to the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex.
I was not expecting there to be so many dishes. Or so big!

We went to the visitor centre to have a look around. There are some really cool displays. Like a spacesuit:

A piece of the moon from the Apollo 11 mission:
And a 1:1 scale model of the Rover and a human Luke robot:
After we had finished reading and learning about space and astronauts, we headed back into the city. We still had time for one more place, so we settled on the Royal Australian Mint because we didn’t think it would take us long to get around it.
Here’s another family photo, minus Amy. Ignore Stephen, he doesn’t like having his photo taken:
Then on to the displays about how to make coins and old currencies:

More displays. These ones were more interesting though as they featured coins that had been stamped incorrectly:
Where else but the mint can you spend $3 to get a $1 coin in return?!
And that, is that.
A weekend of family time, enjoying each others company and learning stuff too.
A perfect weekend, really.
