Free Printable Deer Cross Stitch Pattern

I really love deer images and decorations, so when I was thinking about creating a pattern to make, I knew exactly what I wanted!

I already had the supplies I needed, so it was just a matter of the pattern.

When I couldn’t find what I wanted, I decided to make my own free cross stitch pattern of a deer.

I was able to design my own cross stitch pattern from a clip art image.

While I was creating my cross stitch from the pattern, I changed it here and there. This is because there are some elements that I didn’t think the deer needed, such as the lump under its belly.

I also gave my deer a bigger hunchback. No reason, except I thought it needed a bigger bottom to make it look more proportional.

This is one of the best things about a downloadable cross stitch pattern, you can print it out and change it to suit what you want!

Downloading your pattern

This is an easy printable cross stitch pattern. All you need to do is click on the deer counted cross stitch pattern below.

Then, right-click to save it to your computer. Open it in word, or any other program that you can print from, and you’re good to go!

The pattern is larger than what’s shown here, but you can resize it easily, anyway.

Free cross stitch patterns to print are a great way to create some projects for gifts or around the house without outlaying a lot of money.

This is a fantastic beginner cross stitch pattern because it looks great using just one colour to give it a silhouette effect.

Essential Supply List

If this is your first foray into making a cross-stitch, there are some supplies that you will need. You do not need a lot of items to make your first piece.

Embroidery Hoop

An embroidery hoop will make it easier to create your cross-stitch as it gives you something to hold onto. I went with a plastic one because I loved the colour and I wanted to display my cross stitch in the hoop.

Aida Cloth

Aida cloth is the fabric you use for cross-stitching. There are different counts and this number is based on the number of squares per square inch. What you choose will largely depend on what your pattern calls for. I created my deer cross-stitch using 14 count aida cloth.

6-strand DMC Thread is 100% thread that is required to create your cross-stitch. It comes in a multitude of colours, you just need to pick your favorite! Usually you would separate out a few strands, I used three strands when I created my deer.

More Supplies

The above supplies are all the basic items you need to create your cross-stitch.

However, there are a couple more things that could make your life a little bit easier while you’re stitching.

Portable Day Light

A day light is essential when doing crafts! I use mine for everything because it relieves the strain on my eyes. You'll find it much easier to complete your cross-stitch if you have good quality light.
